They’re putting flax seed in everything these days, even cookies and potato chips.

What I’ve recentlly discovered is that rather than eating the seed which may or may not be digested you should get flaxseed meal. I found a high-quality brand at Trader Joes called Red Mill. I put it on salads, cereal, etc.

I’m just starting to get to the age where I’m noticing hormone changes. My doctor called it pre-menopause.

With the recent discoveries of the dangers of HRT I wanted to see if there was something available without the risk.

My friends and I have found some menopause relief using an ancient Persian remedy, tea made with the Borage flower which they call gol gavzaban. Middle eastern markets carry it or can order it. Drink it about 30 minutes before a meal, preferably dinner, once every two days.

With about 1/4 cup of borage and a very small amount of valeriean root (about as much would be needed to make a cigarette) put in about 2 1/2 cups of cold water and bring to a slow boil, turning off once it starts to boil. Squeeze 1/2 lemon into the tea. Let sit for 5 minutes and pour. If sucrose is allowed in your diet add about 1/2 tsp of honey.

I have been experiencing the symptoms of menopause for the last 3 months. I also noticed how much of an effect stress has on irritability and hot flashes.

I work in a somewhat stressful enviornment as do most people, so this is a challenge for me to change my reactions to things. Maybe I’ll take up yoga or meditation! Calm will be my mantra ; )

I found Dr Weil’s website has useful information for us boomer’s. I sometimes print out web pages and take them with me to my doctor appointment. I have gotten off high blood pressure meds by using diet, exercise and supplements from Dr Weil. Thanks for so much information about long term care. I have requested a quote and want to get coverage before my next birthday.

Since about 6 months ago I lost the desire for meat, chicken, etc. and have become something of a vegetarian.

I never thought of myself as one…but it just happened.

I don’t miss meat or chicken and may eat some at some point. I don’t feel any different but maybe that will change once I’ve been off meat for a while.

    Anyone else have this happen?
